Introduction
The Projects detailed within this document summarise the complete range
of services, Hedley 2000 Ltd provide to our Customers. It also reflects on the
response times required to meet Customer requirements. The Projects detailed
were quoted in a competitive environment in early July, the orders were received
as late as the 2"6 and 3~ week of July on the basis that all works were
to be completed by the end of August 2001 to allow the systems to be up and
operational for when new terms commenced for the Schools in September 2001.
The Schools ranged in size and style of building, from old listed type buildings
to new architecturally designed buildings, however there is no allowance for
further services to be installed once the building were completed therefore required
comprehensive containment systems to be provided. It also included the use of
our IT services section where we provided new servers, system upgrades, new network
hardware switching installations, configuration, setting up users, e mail services
etc.
At Comberton College, there was also extensive use of Wireless Networking, with
was also adopted by Chesterton Village College. This provided greater Network
Access to users wherever they may be within the college premises. All of the
physical installation was complete with provision of full containment systems
for the Data and the Electrical requirements and also the provision of Fibre
Optic links to provide new backbones throughout the colleges. All of the installations
were fully tested on completion utilising DSP4000 test equipment to CAT5e standards
and certified with the cabling manufacturers on completion and issue of warranty
certification. All electrical installations were tested to lEE 16*" Edition
regulations and again certified with NICEIC documentation. Complete as fitted,
drawings and manuals were provided to each of the Customers on completion.
As stated the whole of the works commenced the 3rd week of July and was completed
by the end of August 2001, a period of 6 weeks i.e. the Summer School closures.
The overall contract value for all of the works detailed was in the excess of £230
000.00. The Project required extensive Project Management services and 2 Project
Directors were assigned to control the work from start to finish, in excess of
20 installation operatives were deployed with all the work being successfully
completed and handed over on time.
This Project forms part of the Governments initiative to provide Broadband access
to Schools throughout the UK and internet Access into the Classrooms. We are
proud to be associated with the Project and detailed at the end is information
regarding Customer Contact details for references etc.
What this document clearly demonstrates, is the Company's ability to react quickly
to a large scale or small scale Project, provide the quality of Services at all
times and meet Customer expectations in a varied range of situations and demands.
Schools

to provide a gigabit backplane throughout the whole school. At main server we
utilised a Cisco 4006 distribution switch that provided Gigabit Fibre Optic
connections to all remote Data Cabinets, a total of 14No.
In each of the Data
Cabinets Cisco 3548 and 3524 switches were utilised to provide edge switching
delivering 100Mbs at the desk top a total of 450 active ports were provided
arranged in VLANS to Segregate admin and curriculum services. 4 Core Fibre Optic
Cables linked all the Data Cabinets to the main Server Room Cabinet. Within
the Server room 2No new Raid protected servers complete with backup facilities
were provided.
The whole of the installation was upgraded to Microsoft Server
2000 and the Desktops were upgraded to Windows 2000. Floodwiring of Cat5e cabling
was undertaken in the whole of the existing School, providing a total of 720
Cat5e Data Outlets, 13Amp Power Supplies were also installed to the Data Cabinets,
which in turn served surge protected 5 way PDU units. Overlaying the whole installation
a complete Wireless Network Installation was provided, utilising Enterasys wireless
access routers to 27No locations to provide overall 11 Mbs coverage to the School,
which in the future will have the facility to upgrade to 54 Mbs.
The wireless
installation is provided for utilisation by teachers to allow them to remain
logged onto the Network at all times during class changes and change of classrooms
etc. the whole of the installation was tested to Cat5e standards, Fibre Optic
Db loss and IEE 16th Edition regulations for the 13Amp Power supplies provided
to the Data Cabinets.
Harston
and Newton Primary School
New CAT5e installations were installed into both
areas of the building. These were linked utilising 4core
fibre optic cables from 2 new data cabinets installed at
each building location. Fibre optic cables installed between
the buildings on new catenary wire utilising indoor/outdoor
grade Fibre optic cable.
A total of 66No Cat5e Data points
